A kingdom-building minesweeper

Defeat monsters, free the ruins, raise new buildings on them, and march on.

No board should ever need guessing.

Clues on revealed tiles are the summed strength of the eight tiles around it, representing the total strength of potential monsters.

A point of monster strength costs exactly a point of health. (There's no armor, no resistances, or any other sources of mitigation.)

Learn through multiple attempts. The design of the game expects you to lose your first few runs as you learn how to manage your resources, how the map is generated and laid out, what kind of goodies and rewards you can uncover and how to use them.

Theoretically, if you build 5 hamlets and a waterwheel you have infinite prosperity. I haven’t found a map you can do that with, yet, because not building a citadel or mill makes the game basically impossible, but if I find mending scrolls at the right time it may be possible, especially if there’s some kind of special space that gives XP or health or max health or something. Even as is, 4 hamlets and a waterwheel yield ludicrous prosperity so whatever upgrades there are between rounds if they are prosperity-based will make infinite prosperity on hold two possible if not easy.

upgrades in between maps will be bought with gold. Prosperity is basically a high-score and it'll carry through maps for a full run. So ultimately, generating prosperity will be an optimization/minmaxxing issue for people wanting high scores.

Will post some updates soon, as I've currently gotten good UI/UX feedback and working on revamping and improving the early experience a bit (and adding a bit of a playable tutorial).

Thanks a lot for playing!

Ok. Hamlets also produce infinite gold in any circumstance they produce infinite prosperity, so that’s probably fine. Hopefully there’s a way to demonstrate a loop so that the high score isn’t just who’s willing to click “grind 5 wheat” the most times.

really fun game. is it intentional that some buildings or terrain pieces block the numbers? I ask because I have accidentally clicked a tile next to them thinking they were tile that don't have numbers a couple times already.

Oh that is a good observation... It's not intentional, more like an oversight. You mean buildings like the witch hut, that indeed doesn't show numbers. I will fix that, thank you for the feedback!

And I'm really glad you enjoyed the game!

I did mean buildings like the witch hut but I also meant terrain like the lake and the mountain. though those might not be bad for the game as they can serve as an obstacle for people trying to go for the shortest time.
also I really liked that, as soon as you figured out how to win consistently, the game changes to "how do get as much score as possible without screwing my chances to win" makes it really replayable

Very cool and fun! Does the mechanics get deeper later on?

I will release a full-run version soon, where yes, you have more mechanics as you go on to do more, harder maps. Each map type (you can select from a few) has different events and you can get permanent upgrades that carry over between the maps.

I like this! Did you make the art yourself?

Thank you very much. I should update the page with credits, I forgot. The art is made by: https://stevencolling.itch.io/

Yeah the art is really nice but props to the gamedev also! I would love if u joined my discord and maybe share your game there and chat with other gamedevs!
